FOOD FREEDOM THERAPY
"Healing takes courage, and we all have courage even if we have to dig a little to find it." Tori Amos

I UNDERSTAND HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND AN EXPERIENCED, EVIDENCE BASED PROFESSIONAL WITH A LIVED EXPERIENCE OF RECOVERY, WHICH  IS WHY FOOD FREEDOM THERAPY WAS BORN.

Food freedom therapy is for anyone who would like to improve their relationship with food and feel safer, more accepting and more connected to their body so they can start to truly enjoy living it.  Whether you are currently experiencing chronic yo-yo dieting, dietary restriction, binge eating, purging, chew and spitting or compulsive exercise I understand how hard it can be to find an experienced, evidence based professional with a lived recovery experience which is why I created Food Freedom Therapy.

As I Dietitian, I am clinically trained and  work holistically with mind, body, heart and soul; because our relationship with food and our bodies are so much deeper than we often recognise. (If you are not sure what the difference is between a dietitian and other nutrition professionals please click here) Our hunger may not be physical, but emotional, mental or spiritual; so we need to do more than look at what we are eating but also learn to reconnect with our bodies, ourselves and the world around us so we can heal.

Everyone has their own story, so in food freedom therapy I personalise the treatment to your individual needs; by incorporating a specialist style of evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy developed in the Neuropsychiatric Research Institute in Fargo; with with food exposure therapy, psyhco-nutrition education, nervous system regulation, distress tolerance practises, nutritional counselling, hypnotherapy, inner child healing, somatic practises,, guided meditations and self monitoring to support you to improve  your self esteem, recover from disordered eating behaviours, see you body as your ally and come home to yourself.

Food freedom therapy involves then a commitment to 50 minute weekly sessions, via zoom/audio call for a minimum of 12 weeks. There may also be an action plan to focus on in between sessions; this won't be too time consuming, however dedicating effort and energy to this is vital to the effectiveness of the treatment.

WEIGHT LOSS IS NOT THE PRIMARY GOAL OF TREATMENT AND SHOULD NOT BE PURSUED INITIALLY; HOWEVER THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DISCUSSED ALONG THE JOURNEY IF YOU FEEL IT WOULD BENEFIT YOU.

Alongside weekly sessions you will receive weekly action plans, membership to Nourishly / Recovery Record, guided meditations, flexible nutrition guidelines, supplement recommendations, self inquiry prompts and reading lists.

Investment for Food Freedom Therapy is £75 per week. Please note there is a requirement for an Initial Dietetic Consultation prior to commencing Food Freedom Therapy, more information regarding this consultation which involves assessment, formulation and goal setting is available here.

If you don't feel like you will need 12 sessions or this is outside your budget, we can include aspects of FFT in individual Dietetic Consultations  or A Journey to Fullness, my online guided program, may be able to support you through your healing and self discovery.
