Easy Kefir

Kefir is a fermented milk drink that I recommend to many of my clients to try as a natural source of probiotics (good bacteria). It has increased in popularity over the past few years, with more supermarkets selling it alongside fresh milk or yogurts. Kefir contains a wide variety of good bacteria which can really support our digestive health and potentially mood too. A recent study (Rosa 2017) suggested that regular consumption of kefir has been associated with improved digestion, decreased cholesterol, reduced inflammation and improved wound healing. . Making your own is really easy and much cheaper than store bought varieties. 1) Simply add cow or goat milk to kefir grains - which you can get from Amazon.

2) Leave out of the fridge with a cloth or jar lid over for 24-36 hours.

3) Simply strain the milk through a sieve into a jar; and wash the kefir grains to add to fresh milk. 4) The fermented milk can be stored for two days in the fridge. I blitz mine with frozen berries to make a smoothie!
